Low waste Makeup and medical

Makeup has to be the one area that I have really struggled to go plastic free. Most companies do not make plastic free makeup, it's difficult to make your own and makeup has to be used up within a certain amount of time due to germs which can cause eye infections and spots! Of course an alternative is to not wear makeup. But I love makeup so here are some ways to cut down your plastic and waste if you love it too.

Mascara

Lipgloss

Liquid Eyeliner - or buy pencil

Lipliner - buy pencil

Eyebrow tint

Lip balm - note that vaseline is not an alternative as it is a plastic substance.

False eyelashes - stop using

Glitter - do not use glitter. Glitter is micro plastics. There is biodegradable glitter available bu there is no alternative to glue.

Eyeshadow

Makeup brushes/sponges - try to buy natural sponges and wooden brushes with natural fibres.

Nail care - ideally stop using nail varnish.

Aftersun - use aloe vera. To save buying it, buy the plant and use when needed. Coconut oil also works as well.

Insect repellent - DIY insect repellent

Insect bite repair - tiger balm

Sunburn - aloe vera

Plasters

Treating sore throats - honey. Honey is naturally antibacterial and can soothe a sore throat.

Treating colds/flu - honey and lemon tea. Honey is antibacterial, lemon is antibacterial and full of vitamin C. The hot tea will loosen mucus. Eucalyptus oil is great for clearing air ways.
